SUPPORT US

Dear Supporter,

Rock Creek Forest Elementary School opened our new state-of-the-art facility a few years ago and since then the students, staff, parents, volunteers, and PTA of RCFES are working very hard to make sure our school has everything it needs to make it a world-class school for our students. This includes teacher supplies, development opportunities and grants, cultural arts programs, enrichment scholarships, recess equipment, community building activities, and more!

As you may be aware, Rock Creek Forest Elementary School hosts children from throughout the county as a result of the highly competitive Spanish Immersion lottery system. In addition, this year three new special education programs (Autism, HSM and PEP) have also joined the school. These students from all over Montgomery County join students from local Chevy Chase and Silver Spring neighborhoods to make up the incredible range of backgrounds represented at Rock Creek Forest.

This year, with the upcoming opening of BCC Middle School #2, our school has faced challenges with having to split the community, meaning that the English Academy students will be going to the new middle school in Kensington and the Spanish Immersion students will be continuing on to Westland Middle School in Bethesda. Over the years the PTA has worked very hard to bridge the gap between both of these programs to create a solid, strong close-knit community and given this new development we would like to do more to continue making this school feel like ONE school.

We need your help to realize some of the tremendous opportunities our diverse school community could take advantage of with additional funds. There are several ways you can help. Our 13th annual silent auction gala will be held April 1st at the Silver Spring Civic Center in downtown Silver Spring. We'd like to ask you to donate an item or a gift certificate to the live or silent auction, make a financial contribution to help underwrite the event, or your business can make an in-kind donation of food and/or beverages or supplies for the event.

For that reason, the parents of Rock Creek Forest are using this auction as a Launchpad to really boost our children’s educational experience and build even stronger bonds within the RCFES community.

We are targeting goals that are both community, technology, and academically-based. Your donation, no matter what size, will have an important impact. Learn what we can do if we raise the following amount:
  • $5,000 will ensure that all teachers have funding for any necessary supplies that the county doesn’t provide.
  • $2,000 will provide every student in the school access to BrainPops online educational programing which they can access at school and home.
  • $1,500 will allow our Spanish speaking parents to have the opportunity to be included in all community activities through programing targeted towards bridging the two programs’ communities.
  • $1,000 will provide additional recess equipment for the children to play outside with.
  • $500 will enable a class of Rock Creek Forest students to receive highly rated, intensive writing instruction after school at a significantly reduced price.
  • $300 will provide an enrichment scholarship to two children to attend a FLEX after school program that they otherwise could not attend.
  • $250 will help underwrite a community event such as the Spring fair, school picnic, talent show and multicultural night. $100 will help supplement one class’s attendance at an in-school cultural arts program.
The silent auction is also a tremendous community builder for the school and supporting businesses. Your support will be recognized in the manner commensurate with the amount contributed, indicated on the donation form.

We thank you for your help in creating the most successful environment for our students and event for our community!

Sincerely,
Jessy Smith, Cassie Katz and Christine Eddy
